The Diocese of Imus Catholic Educational System, Inc. (DICES), through the Physical Plant Office, successfully conducted Day 1 of the Basic Occupational Health and Safety (BOSH) Training for Safety Officer 2 (SO2) today, January 20, 2025, at the CADIPSA Center in Mendez, Cavite.

This certificate course aims to "enhance safety practices in alignment with Republic Act 11058 ('An Act Strengthening Compliance with OSH Standards and Providing Penalties for Violations Thereof') and its implementing guidelines under Department Order No. 198-18."

The training, a joint initiative between DICES and the COSHEMAP Academy of Safety and Technology, also aims to provide educators and administrators with the knowledge and tools to implement and uphold safety standards.

Mr. Romar Reyes, DICES Support Team Leader for Physical Plant, led the 30 participants from 23 DICES member schools.

“We are here for this BOSH training as Safety Officers with the primary responsibility of ensuring the safety and well-being of our personnel and students. As this is the second home for our students, it is essential that we create and maintain a safe environment for them to learn and grow. Our role involves identifying potential hazards, implementing safety protocols, and responding effectively in case of emergencies,” Mr. Romar Reyes emphasized in his opening remarks.

Participants who complete the SO2 training will gain the skills to establish an Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Committee, conduct hazard assessments, carry out regular safety inspections, and fulfill DOLE’s mandatory reporting requirements.

All completers of this SO2 training will be required to attend the Advanced Training for Safety Officers – Safety Officer 3 (SO3), scheduled for June or July 2025.
